Husband Arrested After Wife Found Dead, Partially-Clothed Behind Detroit Home

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police say a man is in custody after the partially clothed body of his 60-year-old wife was found behind their east side home.

The man was taken into custody Friday, a day after his wife's body was found -- reportedly by a 6-year-old child -- in the back yard of a home on Edgefield Street, near I-94 and Moross Road.

Detroit Police Sgt. Michael Woody told WJBK that the woman's husband was quickly identified as a person of interest.

"The husband became known to us as a part of this investigation and interviewing him, investigators felt that they had enough probable cause to make the arrest and so he is in custody right now," Woody told the TV station. "Of course, it'll be up to the prosecutor's determination once they review the case whether or not any charges will actually be filed against him."

The woman's cause of death has not yet been determined, but reports say signs of apparent trauma were visible. Woody said the woman had "several injuries."

An investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
