Plenty Of Dream Cruise Rides For Sale In Metro Detroit

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Do you love the Woodward Dream Cruise, but can't stand the thought of hitting one of the country's most storied thoroughfares during the biggest car cruise in the word in a ride that isn't top tier?

Skip singing the Dream Cruise blues and treat yourself.

There are still plenty of cars available in metro Detroit for Dream Cruise, according to WWJ 950's Mike Campbell, who cruised around the area recently checking out some hot rides for sale. They could be in the driveway before the Aug. 20 cruise.

A classic 1967 white Dodge Charger with a "healthy small block" engine is for sale at Van Born, east of Telegraph, Campbell found. It has the original interior and snazzy rims.

Jim Erwine of Erwine Auto Sales said there were only 17,000 of these cars made, so he considers the $12,900 price tag a good deal. It has 64,000 original miles.

"That car was always on my bucket list," he said. "I always wanted that kind of a style car, now I got it and let somebody else enjoy it now."

A search on craigslist turns up dozens more cars advertised as "Dream Cruise ready." The descriptions are enough to make a car lover salivate.

For sale are classic rides including a 1994 turquoise Corvette, 1965 AMC Rambler, custom G10 Chevy van, gold 1977 Cadillac DeVille, 1976 Caprice, 1969 Mach 1, 1968 Thunderbird, even a cherry red 1959 Chevy flatbed truck.

Prices range from $12 to $39,900, so there's something for every wallet.

Of his own car for sale, Erwine says, "It's just looking for the right person to buy it."
