Sweet-Tooth Robbers Strike In Detroit, Make Off With Honeybuns

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Call them the sweet-tooth or sticky fingered bandits, if you will, but help police identify them if you can: A pair of men are being sought in connection with an armed robbery Sunday morning at a Detroit gas station.

A man entered a gas station in the 8000 block of Woodward Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Without skipping a beat, police said one of the men walked over to the boxes of glistening Little Debbie honey buns, picked up three boxes and strolled to the door. An individually wrapped box of six of the sticky pastries retails for $2 to $3. An armed robbery charge carries a mandatory two, five, or 10 year sentence depending upon the prior history of the defendant, according to Michigan law.

In this case, when the security guard tried to stop him, the thief pulled a gun, police told WDIV.

The thief allegedly pointed the gun and ordered the security guard to "step back."

Police said the thieves escaped in a gray Honda two-door vehicle with a temporary tag in the back window.

They're hoping someone from the public will come forward with information identifying the suspects.

The first man is described as black with a dark complexion, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, wearing a black T-shirt and dark shorts. The second man is black with a lighter complexion who stands 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs about 165 pounds, is clean shaven, with a medium-size Afro. He was wearing a white T-shirt and beige Dickies pants, police said.
