Michigan State Police Trooper Injured In Crash On I-75 With Suspected Drunk Driver

AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) - Authorities say a Michigan State Police trooper was injured in a crash on I-75 with a suspected drunk driver.

The two-vehicle crash happened around 3 a.m. Friday on northbound I-75 just north of Joslyn Road.

Police say the female trooper was working with MDOT to block one lane for construction crews when her patrol vehicle was rear-ended by a white Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The trooper, a 29-year veteran of the force, suffered a broken wrist and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police say the other driver, a 29-year-old Shelby Township man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drunk driving and lodged at the Oakland County Jail.

The crash remains under investigation.

The northbound lanes of I-75 were closed for just over three hours but have since reopened.
