Hard Rock, Customized Ride: 'Counting Cars' Star Takes On Dream Cruise

DETROIT (WWJ) - The star of a hit cable show about cars is coming to Detroit this weekend for a good cause.

Dodge Challenger _AuctionTo celebrate the Woodward Dream Cruise, Danny "The Count" Koker, owner of Count's Kustoms in Las Vegas and star of the show "Counting Cars", will perform with his hard rock band band Count's 77 at Duggan's Irish Pub Saturday.

"I'm stoked to come back, every time I get to come to Detroit I'm a very, very happy man," Koker told WWJ's Zahra Huber.

With Ally Financial, he will kick off the online auction of a plum purple 2014 Dodge Challenger Demon SRT8 customized by his team. It once belonged to singer Dee Snider of the Twisted Sister band. Koker said the graphics are reminiscent of an old school 70's Challenger.

"Inside the graphics themselves, my artists here at Count's Kustoms did some amazing airbrush mural-type artwork that are inside the graphics that really pay homage to the city of Detroit," said Koker. "There's a bunch of Detroit skyline murals in it. It pays homage to the Woodward Dream Cruise. So you'll see scenes depicting the old cars and the new cars. You'll see some street signs of Woodward Avenue."

All proceeds from the auction, which will be held online from August 20 - August 27, will go to Covenant House Michigan, a local charity dedicated to providing resources for at-risk youth.

"To participate in an event like this, to customize a cool vehicle that they're going to auction off, and they're going to actually help kids that need help in what I call my city, my Detroit -- this is important to me, this is in my heart," said Koker.

Koker said during his time in Detroit, he plans to visit his old Detroit neighborhood, the downtown area, and White Castle.

He joked that he's "jonesing" for a sack of White Castle, which he grew up eating.

The event kicks off around 6 p.m. at Duggan's Irish Pub on Woodward in Detroit.
