'It's Cold-Blooded' Says Witness To Murder At Detroit Gas Station

DETROIT (WWJ) - Police are working to piece together the connection between the victim of a fatal shooting at a Detroit gas station and the assailants.

A car peppered with bullets tells part of the story as police investigate the murder of a man while at a gas station at Grand River and Evergreen around 2:45 a.m.

Police have identified the victim as 30-year-old Bobby 'LaVal' Beverley.

Johnny Broaden was driving in the area at the time and saw it all unfold:

"Doing a U-turn in the gas station and I see two guys run up on the car and just started shooting - for no reason - apparently they shoot and they run off the street and hop into a car and drive off -- it's just crazy," said Broaden.

He was shocked by the incident.

"You just run up on someone's car and start shooting - don't give 'em a chance to defend them-self - you just unload on them -- two guns, two people and one guy no gun, by his self basically, and you just gun him down in his car -- it's cold-blooded," said Broaden.

Police believe that Beverly was in the front passenger seat and tried to escape into the back seat.

Police say they found drugs and bags inside of Bobby Beverly's car. Investigators don't believe this incident was random.

"It was not a robbery, there was no conversation - it does not look like it was random - like they were looking for this individual," said Captain Kurt Walwise.

Two suspects remain at large.
