B1G Announces Game Dates, Matchups For Conference Slate

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- In conjunction with the Big Ten Conference, the University of Michigan men's basketball team announced Thursday the dates and opponents for its 2017 Big Ten schedule.

Following the completion of its 13-game non-conference schedule, Michigan begins its 2017 league season in its only regular-season game with Iowa on Sunday, Jan. 1, at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. U-M is 25-23 when opening season away from Ann Arbor and 57-43 overall in B1G openers.

The 18-game regular-season slate is highlighted with four single games at Crisler Center, beginning with a Wednesday, Jan. 4, contest with Penn State. The remaining three single contests in Ann Arbor will all be Saturday games -- against Maryland on Jan. 7, Ohio State on Feb. 4 and Purdue on Feb. 25.

After playing only once the last two seasons, U-M and Michigan State resume the traditional home-and-home series in 2017. The two-game set begins with the Wolverines in East Lansing on Sunday, Jan. 29, at the Breslin Center followed with a quick rematch nine days later on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Crisler Center.

The Wolverines' other four home-and-home series will be with Illinois (Jan. 11 road; Jan. 21 home), Indiana (Jan. 26 home; Feb. 12 road), Nebraska (Jan. 14 home, March 5 road) and Wisconsin (Jan. 17 road, Feb. 16 home).

U-M closes the regular season with four of its final five games on the road, including three single-game opponents. First, U-M heads to Minneapolis, Minnesota, for a game at Minnesota, Sunday, Feb. 19, before a midweek game at Rutgers on Wednesday, Feb. 22.

After a home finale against the Boilermakers (Feb. 25), U-M heads to Northwestern, Wednesday, March 1, and closes the regular season at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska, for a Sunday, March 5, contest at Nebraska.

Three days following the regular season, the 14 conference schools will begin the Big Ten Tournament on the East Coast for the first time at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. The five-day tournament begins with opening-round games on Wednesday, March 8, and first-round games the following day, Thursday, March 9.

Quarterfinal, semifinal and championship games will be Friday through Sunday, March 10-12.

Season ticket renewals are available either online or by calling (866) 296-6849. New season tickets are currently on sale. Ticket packs and non-conference individual game sales go on sale in mid-October, while conference individual games will be on sale in mid-November.

Additional non-conference and Big Ten conference games, times and television designations will be announced at a later date.
