Ex-MSU, NFL Player Rison Pleads Guilty To Violating Probation

FLINT, Mich. (AP) - Former Michigan State and NFL receiver Andre Rison has pleaded guilty to violating probation by failing to maintain child support payments and testing positive for marijuana.

The Flint Journal reports that Rison appeared Tuesday in federal court in Flint, Michigan.

A judge ordered Rison to continue probation. Prosecutors said they would seek prison time if Rison violates probation again.
Rison's attorney, Fred Meiers, told the court "there won't be a problem again."

The Flint native was ordered in 2013 to pay at least $1,000 per month in child support. The government now will garnish $922 per month from his NFL pension.

Rison played for seven NFL teams from 1989 to 2000. He's lately been a high school coach in Flint and Ann Arbor.
