Updated Plans Released For Former Michigan State Fairgrounds

DETROIT (AP) - Updated plans for the former site of the Michigan state fairgrounds in Detroit include a walkable development with housing, retail space, a multiplex theater and a large park.

Developers on Thursday released revised plans and new conceptual renderings.

David Williams, senior adviser for the city's jobs and economy team, and Dave Walker, design director for the city's planning and development department, told The Detroit News the update offers a look at the character of the space and the vision for the property.

Earlier plans were revisited. Developers involved include ex-NBA star Earvin "Magic" Johnson's development company Magic Plus LLC. Williams says more community meetings are planned this fall before City Council is presented with a site plan in early 2017.

A completion date has not yet been determined.
