College Instructor's Body Found On Northern Michigan Beach

PENINSULA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities have identified the body of a 49-year-old woman that was found on a private beach in Northern Michigan.

The Traverse City Record-Eagle and WPBN-TV report that an autopsy is scheduled Tuesday to determine how Sonja Olshove died.

Olshove's body was found Sunday morning by a neighbor on Old Mission Peninsula in Peninsula Township, northeast of Traverse City.

The Grand Traverse County sheriff's office says Olshove lived on Old Mission Peninsula, off Grand Traverse Bay.

Her death remains under investigation.

The newspaper reports that Olshove taught in the areas of sociology and psychology at Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City.

School president Tim Nelson says she began working there in 1991. He says her death is "a shock to everyone" and that "she was an excellent, excellent instructor."
