DETROIT (WWJ) – Police believe they know who fatally shot a 21-year-old man in Detroit over Labor Day weekend — and they’re looking for tips to help bring him in.
Lawrence Isaac McCree, Jr. is the primary suspect in the murder Sunday night on Haverhill near Munich on the city’s east side.
Police say the victim was standing outside a friend’s home at around 8:50 p.m. when the suspect came around the side of the house, armed with a rifle. The suspect then fired multiple shots, striking the victim.
The young man, who is not being named at this time, was pronounced dead on scene. Police have not mentioned a possible motive.
McCree is described as a black male, around 6 feet, 1 inch tall and 150 lbs, with a dark complexion, medium afro-style hair, a thin mustache and a goatee. Photos were released to the media on Wednesday.
Police say McCree should be considered “armed and extremely dangerous.” Citizens are urged not approach him or try to apprehend him themselves.
