The Snack Attack: Little Caesars' New Loaded Crazy Bread Bites Are Cheesy Bacon Goodness [TASTE TEST]

Little Caesars is my hometown hero when it comes to pizza. Sure, it's not fancy or gourmet. But for $5, you just can't get a better deal than a large Hot-N-Ready.

And even better than their pizza is their Crazy Bread. Other pizzerias have tried, but none come close to the buttery, garlicy (Is that a word? No? Well, it is now) taste of Crazy Bread.

Little Caesars says its Crazy Bread is so popular that if you lined up all the Crazy Bread sold in a year, it would circle the earth three times. Crazy indeed. And now for the first time, Little Caesars is making their delicious bread even crazier by smothering bite-size pieces with cheese and bacon.

Loaded Crazy Bread Bites start with pieces of Crazy Bread drizzled with warm cheddar cheese sauce, covered with shredded Muenster and Mozzarella cheeses, topped with grated Parmesan cheese, and finished with applewood smoked bacon. It's a crazy, cheesy overload!

Loaded Crazy Bread Bites are available for a limited time for only $4, plus tax. Get them Hot-N-Ready from 4 to 8 p.m., or anytime by request at participating locations.

REVIEW: Little Caesars Loaded Crazy Bread Bites

Appearance: I couldn't wait to open up the bright orange box to see what kind of treasures awaited me inside. And once I did, it was like a cheesy glow emanated from the box of deliciousness. Before me was a mound of bite-size pieces of Crazy Bread covered in cheese and bacon crumbles.

I have to be honest, though -- one look at the cheeses and I was like "Where's all the cheddar?" The Munster, Mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses were clearly visible, but I could only see scant amounts of cheddar peeking out here and there. That made me sad -- until I grabbed a fork and parted the bites like Moses did the Red Sea, and ALAS! The golden cheddar cheese had slid off the bites (due to all the garlic butter) and was sitting at the bottom of my container, just begging to be eaten. Don't mind if I do, cheese. Don't mind one bit if I do.

NOTE: These bites are supposed to be served with jalapeno slices. I say "supposed to be" because my order didn't have any and I didn't notice until after I got home. Total bummer!

Aroma: The smell of freshly baked Crazy Bread just can't be beat. That buttery goodness with the perfect amount of garlic -- just the thought of it is making my mouth water! Despite all the bacon crumbles, the scent of bacon itself wasn't strong enough to stand out through the butter, cheese and garlic.

Taste: There are so many different flavors here, it's hard to tell you're even still eating Crazy Bread. The bread itself was chewy with the slightest crisp around the edges, and it was doused in garlic butter. Maybe even a little too much, as weird as that might sound, because the melted butter was pooling up in the bottom of the dish -- it doesn't mix with the melted cheese either, so it's a bit of a greasy mess. If I didn't have a fork, I bet the butter would have been dripping down my hands. The bacon itself had a decent flavor -- you could really taste the applewood smoke, but the texture was chewy. Personally, I would have preferred a crispy, crunchy bacon to chewy crumbles, but at least the flavor was still there. Now on to the cheese, which is the real star of this dish. Cheese definitely touched every bite size piece of Crazy Bread. Aside from the cheddar slipping off -- which was actually OK because I ended up with a well for dipping -- every piece of Crazy Bread had cheese melted or sprinkled on it, even the ones hiding underneath.

Pros: Cheese, cheese and more cheese. Oh yeah, and bacon. Plus the deliciousness that is Crazy Bread. It's all a winning combination.

Cons: The cheddar cheese didn't stick to the bread and instead slid off to the bottom of the container, along with the pool of extra butter.

Rating: 6 out of 10 -- If you like cheese and toppings on your bread, definitely give this a try. But if you prefer your bread more on the plain side, you might want to stick to regular Crazy Bread.
