Body Recovered Of Man Who Attempted To Help Friend Who’d Fallen Into Lake

ESCANABA, Mich. (AP) – Authorities have recovered the body of an Illinois man who apparently drowned off Michigan’s Upper Peninsula while trying to help a buddy last weekend.

The body of Tom Petruszak was found Thursday in Little Bay de Noc, which is connected to Lake Michigan.

The Delta County sheriff’s department says Petruszak was fishing with two other people last Saturday when he jumped into the water to help a buddy who had fallen out of the boat.

His Illinois hometown was not released.
