Michigan Matters: Women In Business And Presidential Politics

(CBS Detroit) With more women than ever starting up businesses, Michelle Richards, Executive Director of the Great Lakes Women Business Council, appeared with a high powered panel of leaders to talk about why during taping of CBS 62's "Michigan Matters."

Richards talked about the 16th Annual Great Lakes Women Conference taking place in Novi later this month. Over 1,500 women leaders and business owners from the midwest will attend and learn more about growing their companies.

Also appearing on the show was Kelly Rossman-McKinney , CEO of Truscott Rossman, who talked about the Athena Ignite Conference. It is being held Sept 25-27 at Lansing Center. It celebrates women leaders and helping those in business. Dr Mona Hanna-Attisha , Florine Mark and actress Ashley Judd are among those appearing.

Felicia Harris, president/CEO of El Shaddai Consulting, was also part of the panel along with Carol Cain, Senior Producer/Host of the program.

The panel shared advice for other women interested in businesses.

Then, Rossman-McKinney appeared with Charlie Beckham, Group Executive in Charge of Neighborhoods for City of Detroit, and Lena Epstein, General Partner of Vesco Oil Corp., to talk politics.

Epstein is the State Co-Chair of the Trump Campaign in Michigan and shared thoughts on what it would take for him to take Michigan from Hillary Clinton in November.

Rossman-McKinney, who is supporting Clinton, said Chelsea Clinton would be coming back to Michigan later this month to talk about why her Mom is the best candidate for the White House.

Beckham discussed numerous projects taking place in Detroit's neighborhoods.

He also took issue with the impact of Trump appearing at an African American church last Saturday and impact it would ultimately have with voters in November.
