Northern Michigan State Representative Dies In Motorcycle Crash

LOUD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ) — Michigan State Representative Peter Pettalia was killed in a motorcycle accident on Monday night in Northern Michigan.

Very few details from the crash were immediately known. According to Lansing-based Gongwer News Service, Pettalia was involved in a crash while riding his motorcycle on M-33 in Montmorency County’s Loud Township.

Governor Rick Snyder expressed his condolences to Pettalia’s family on Twitter following the incident.

Pettalia was elected to the State House of Representatives in 2010 in Michigan’s 106th Representative District on the northeast side of the state. The Republican from Presque Isle also spent time as a volunteer firefighter with the East Grand Lake Fire Department for 15 years.
