Senior Citizen Arrested After Breaking Into Home, Chasing Man With Golf Club

COMMERCE TOWNSHIP (WWJ) – Authorities say a senior citizen was arrested after he broke into a home and chased the homeowner around with a golf club.

The incident happened Tuesday morning in Commerce Township.

Police say a 67-year-old White Lake Township man broke into a home, approached the 49-year-old homeowner and started chasing him around the home, threatening him with a golf club.

The homeowner was able to escape the attack and call 911. Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies promptly arrived on the scene and took the suspect into custody.

At this time, investigators say it’s unclear why the suspect was chasing the homeowner. It’s also not clear if the homeowner was targeted or if this was a random occurrence, police said.

An investigation is ongoing.
