University Of Michigan Approves $500 Million Campus Renovation Project

ANN ARBOR (AP) -- University of Michigan officials have approved nearly $500 million in construction and renovation projects at its three campuses.

The Ann Arbor News reports the university's Board of Regents gave the green light Thursday to six projects in Ann Arbor, Dearborn and Flint.

Highlights include replacing the Dearborn campus' Engineering Lab Building and adding 65,000 square feet to Flint's William R. Murchie Science Building. The main Ann Arbor campus will see additions to a robotics lab and renovations to the dental building, kinesiology school and the College of Literature, Science and the Arts building.

About $90 million of the total price tag is covered by state funding. Ford Motor Co. is providing money toward the robotics lab work and will perform collaborative research in the building.
