In regard to the status of Ameer Adbullah, here's some unsettling news: the Lions are taking a look at Joique Bell.

Abdullah suffered a foot injury in Sunday's loss to the Tennessee Titans and was removed from the game in the first quarter. Though the Lions have declined to offer an update on his condition since, their decision to work out Bell suggests Abdullah may be out for an extended period of time.

Bell last played for the Lions in 2015, when he totaled 311 yards and four touchdowns on 90 carries. It was a step back from his performance in seasons past, and the Lions decided to cut him in February.

They made him a new offer later that month, hoping to bring him back for less of the cost. Bell turned it down, but he left the door open for a reunion with the only NFL team he's ever played for.

"There's no bad blood between me and the Lions," Bell said at the time. "They did what was best for the organization and I did what I thought was best for my family. You never know, I might end up back with the Lions."

Seven months later, Bell's words may prove prophetic.
