Man Murders Four Kids, Attempts To Kill Wife, Then Reports It Through 911, Police Say [VIDEO]

DEARBORN HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Authorities say a man is in custody after he allegedly murdered his four children and attempted to kill his wife at their home in Dearborn Heights.

The incident happened around 1:15 a.m. Wednesday at a home on Hipp Street, in a neighborhood off of Pelham and Annapolis roads.

Lt. Michael Krause said the suspect called police and told them that he had killed his entire family. "Officers responded tactically and were able to take him into custody right away, as he was on the porch," he said.

Inside the home, investigators found a 4-year-old Kaliegh Green and 6-year-old Koi Green dead in their beds, a 17-year-old girl and 19-year-old boy dead in the basement, and the suspect's wife suffering from gunshot and stab wounds.

The wife, identified as Faith Green, was rushed to a local hospital and last reported in fair condition.

Krause said it appears the younger children -- identified as Kaleigh and Koi -- were asphyxiated in the suspect's vehicle; a hose had been hooked to the exhaust and was routed into the car. After the girls succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning, the suspect allegedly moved their bodies back inside the home and tucked them into bed. As for the older children -- identified as Kara Allen and Chadney Allen -- officials say both were shot execution style.

The suspect is said to be the biological father of the two youngest children; Green is the biological mother of all four children.

Police Capt. Michael Petri said the situation "seems to have stemmed from a domestic violence related incident." He said police have never been called to the home in the past, but wouldn't say if police have had any prior contact with the suspect.

The suspect, who is currently being held at the Dearborn Heights Police Department, is expected to be arraigned by Thursday.

Investigators have not yet revealed an underlying motive, but some on the scene speculated marital problems were to blame.

"They were having some issues and they supposedly worked them out, and then she moved back in and this happened," said a neighbor who only wanted to be identified as Michelle. "But, you know, I kind of think she was getting ready to leave again."

Other neighbors, like Ronnie Jones, were shocked.

"I seen them going to school and stuff. I've seen him out here cutting the lawn," Jones told WWJ's Charlie Langton. "They just had a birthday party a couple of weeks ago for one of them out here, all the relatives were here. They've had two or three parties this summer where they had get-togethers. I just figured they were a regular family."

Terry Strickland agreed that nothing seemed out of the ordinary with the family.

"They were just quiet, you know, kids seemed always happy. The guy seemed really good, too," he said. "I mean, the time when he accidentally hit my car, he was polite, he came and knocked on my door and told me what happened and we worked things out. He seemed like a very good guy."

The quadruple murder is "devastating news" to Dearborn Heights Mayor Dan Paletko.

"Right away when you see the kind of action that was taken against these four kids, you can't help but think of your own kids and what would make anybody do this," Paletko said live on WWJ Newsradio 950. "It's a tragedy and it's unbelievable. I can't fathom as to what would be the motivation to do something like this."

An investigation is ongoing.
