KALAMAZOO (WWJ) Maybe they couldn’t get ESPN’s Game Day broadcast to pay a visit, but they do have this going for them:
Western Michigan University wants to set a world record for wedding vow renewals at their homecoming.
“We looked at different options and thought about what meaningful things happened to people in their college career and so many people found their sweetheart during their college years,” said Chris Praedeo, Western’s director of events.
He added they need 188,000 couples to break the world record at homecoming on Oct. 8th.
The official record attempt will occur on Heritage Hall’s Grand Lawn, located off Oakland Drive in Kalamazoo, Mich.
The event will include commemorative photo stations, interactive couple activities, Meagan McNeal performing romantic hits on stage, wedding cake from Bert’s Bakery, and a sparkling champagne toast in brown and gold flutes. An official Guinness World Record judge will be on-site to present a certificate to the crowd if the record is broken.
