Prisoner On The Run After Escaping Custody In Macomb County [PHOTO]

CLINTON TWP. (WWJ) - Authorities are asking for the public's help as they search for a suspect who escaped custody during a prisoner transfer in Macomb County over the weekend.

Nicholas Ian Mosher, 21, wasn't handcuffed due to a cast on his wrist, according to police, when he fled on foot from officers in the area of 26 Mile Road and I-94 at around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police say Mosher was arrested by the Clinton Township Police Department for a probation violation warrant, with the original charge being from the Marysville Police Department. When Marysville officers responded to meet with Clinton Township police for the custody exchange, that's when he got away.

Officers and police tracking dogs were unable to locate the man.

It took some time to determine the escapee's true identity after he fled from officers, police said, because he'd initially given police a false name. A photo was not released until Monday.

Mosher is described as a white male, around 6 feet, 3 inches tall and 180 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing scrubs and a cast on his left arm/wrist.

Mosher has two valid warrants for his arrest that are still outstanding, through the St. Clair County Sheriff Department.

Anyone who may have seen this young man or knows of his whereabouts is asked to call Marysville police at 810-364-6300.
