DETROIT (AP) – Detroit City Councilwoman Raquel Castaneda-Lopez is launching a mobile service office for Detroit’s 6th District.

The Winnebago was converted into office space and is expected to help increase resident access to city services.

Castaneda-Lopez says getting to council offices in downtown Detroit presents a barrier for many district residents without transportation. The mobile office will be accessible in school parking lots on various days each month.

She says in a release that it is the job of “local government to meet people where they’re at and overcome the challenges that hinder” elected officials from servicing their communities.

Detroit’s District 6 includes Southwest Detroit and parts of the city’s west side.
