Dooley's Bar In Roseville Robbed Of Thousands In Keno Cash

ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - Thousands of dollars in Michigan lottery money was stolen when a popular Macomb County tavern was targeted by thieves.

Police say Dooley's Draft Beer House in Roseville was broken into overnight by someone who seems to have heard about a Keno machine on site.

Bar owner Frank Sgroi says that particular machine was known as a lucky one.

"In the last few months we've had a number of Keno winners totaling $200,000. We've had three people hit the jack(pot), which is kind of unheard of in the Keno world," he told WWJ's Dave Ramos.

Sgroi said the crooks smashed a window and pried the machine open, quickly making off with close to $5,000.

"I've been here 26 years, I've never had a B and E, a robbery or a holdup or anything. So it's a little nerve-wracking for my entire family. My aunt was here on the premises when it occurred. She was able to run out the back door when she seen them circling the building and called 911," Sgroi said.

"Roseville police were immediate to respond, but the people obviously had a plan to get in an out as fast as they could...so it took them like a minute," he said. "Roseville (police) were right behind them but they were unable to catch them."

No one was hurt.

There have been no arrests and a description of the suspects was not immediately available. Roseville police say detectives will examine video of the incident as an investigation continues.

The worst part, Sgroi said says: Dooley's will be responsible for paying back the stolen cash.
