Roto-Rooter Truck Crushed In Crash With DDOT Bus On Telegraph

DETROIT (WWJ) - An is investigation underway in Detroit after a truck rear-ended a city bus.

It happened early Tuesday afternoon on northbound Telegraph Road just south of 6 Mile Road, in the two right lanes.

Reporting from the scene, WWJ's Sandra McNeill reports that the windshield of the Roto-Rooter truck involved was shattered and the cab was completely smashed in — crushed to almost half its original size.

Detroit Police Officer Daniel Sitarski said at the scene that it's not known at this time why the truck ran into the bus. The truck driver was injured.

"He was taken to Bostford Hospital; he's going to be OK, though," Sitarski said.

There were no passengers aboard the Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) bus at the time of the crash and the driver was not hurt.

Shortly after 1 p.m., the wreckage was still being cleared with police on the scene investigating.

Traffic was getting by in the two left lanes.
