DETROIT (WWJ) – Detroit police are hoping the public can help identify a suspect wanted in a fatal shooting, but they only have images of his vehicle.
The shooting happened around 11:40 p.m. on Sunday, September 25 on the Lodge Service Drive just south of 8 Mile Road on the city’s west side.
Police say the victims — a 26 year-old female driver and her 31-year-old male passenger — were heading eastbound on 8 Mile Road towards the Lodge Freeway in a red Pontiac G5.
As the victims merged onto the service drive, police say an unknown suspect riding in a dark-colored minivan fired multiple shots into their vehicle, striking them both.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was transported to a local hospital and treated for a non-fatal gunshot wound to the body.
Police have released surveillance videos from nearby businesses that show the suspect’s vehicle, and they’re asking the public for help. The suspect’s vehicle is the second vehicle seen in the footage.
Anyone who has seen the vehicle or has information about the shooting or suspect is urged to contact police at 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
