U-M Football Team Adds Tough Teen From Howell To Roster

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) – As the University of Michigan football team continues to roll through what’s turning out to be a very successful season, some big ‘roster addition’ news came out of Ann Arbor.

Larry Prout, Jr., a tough 15-year-old from Howell, who has spina bifida, among other disorders, officially added to the football program’s roster.

Prout has endured over 90 surgeries and hospital stays but Tuesday he got a big assist from head coach Jim Harbaugh and Team IMPACT, a non-profit based in Boston.

“We’re real happy today,” said Harbaugh, “our team just got bigger –we feel like we are drawing the long straw on this one to have Larry part of our team … Welcome aboard and keep up the great work – you are an inspiration to us all.”

“Thank you with all my heart for giving me this chance, ” said Prout. “Go Blue!”
