Boy Killed Over 80 Years Ago To Get Gravestone Marker

YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) - The unmarked grave of a 7-year-old Ypsilanti boy whose death has gone unsolved for more than 80 years is about to be decorated with a headstone.

Jackson resident John Sisk raised more than $1,500 through a GoFundMe page, reports MLive, to mark the grave of Richard Streicher Jr. at Highland Cemetery in Ypsilanti. Sisk had learned the plot was still unmarked after The Ann Arbor News wrote about the cold case in December.

An engraved monument will be dedicated during a ceremony Saturday at 11 a.m.

Richard never returned home after going sledding on a late winter evening in March 1935. His body was found days later underneath a footbridge near his Ypsilanti home with 14 stab wounds.

Investigators never found the killer.
