Some Of The Most Physically Fit Are Cheering On The Sidelines At NFL Games

DETROIT (WWJ) - Some of the fittest people at Ford Field on game day may include more than the football players.

WWJ health reporter Dr. Deanna Lites went behind the scenes to get some fitness and diet tips from a couple of these NFL sideline stars.

The 28-member Detroit Lions cheerleading squad uses a combination of dance, cheer and gymnastic moves to entertain the crowd.

While there's glitz and glamour on the field, off the field these woman go through grueling workouts and follow a healthy eating plan.

Twenty-three-year-old Courtney says think of food as fuel for your body.

"Doing the meal prep and prepping it yourself and making things from scratch is ultimately how you can get the healthiest meal out of what you have," says Courtney.

The Rochester resident spends part of Sunday cheering and part of the day preparing her food for the week.When it comes to getting in shape.

Twenty-seven-year-old Amber from Novi says mix it up.

"The biggest thing is keeping it exciting - switching your workout everyday."

And whether you're trying to lose weight or tone up don't go it alone - having a support partner helps with accountability and motivation.
