Sheriff: Boyfriend Could Face Charges After Woman Found Dead In Car

HARRISON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- A 36-year-old man is in custody and could be charged this weekend after his girlfriend was found dead on Friday inside her car in Harrison Township.

Chantal Rae, 48, of St. Clair Shores was found Friday morning after she apparently fled the suspect's home on Thursday evening.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said detectives believe that whatever happened to Rae may have started inside her boyfriend's home, eight doors down the street from where she was found dead.

"Detectives are interviewing him at this point. We're trying to ascertain what transpired," Wickersham said on Saturday. "We believe any injuries that our victim may have received occurred inside another house there on Cloverleaf."

Detectives with the Macomb County Sheriff's office were called to a 911 call after the body was discovered just before 8 a.m. Friday, on Cloverleaf Street, near South River Road.

Wickersham said area residents reported hearing arguing earlier. No one else is suspected in Rae's death, but officials are looking people who may have more information about the relationship between the two.

"We're very confident that we'll end up keeping the individual that we have in custody here and present a case to the prosecutor's office over the next day or two," Wickersham said.
