$13,000 Reward Offered For Tips After Canton Man Fatally Shot Behind The Wheel

DEARBORN (WWJ) - A cash reward for tips has been raised to $13,000 as police continue to search for suspects in the murder of a Canton man who was fatally shot while driving in Dearborn.

Police were called to the scene Sunday, Oct. 22, at around 10 p.m., in the area of Madison and Bennett near Outer Drive on reports of a car that crashed into several parked vehicles.

Investigators discovered that the driver — later identified as 33-year-old Raymond Mshahwar — had been shot before the crash. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It's unclear of this was a random shooting and police have not disclosed a possible motive.

They're looking for tips.

"This is a tragic situation and our condolences go out the family of the victim," said Chief Ronald Haddad in a statement. "The Dearborn Police Department will use all available resources to apprehend the person(s) involved in this crime. We are urging the public to come forward with information regarding this crime."

Anyone who knows anything about this case is urged to call the Dearborn Police Tip Line at 313-943-3030 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP.  Cash rewards are paid upon an arrest and conviction. Anyone providing information can remain anonymous.
