Suspect Wanted In Shootout At Detroit Family Dollar [PHOTOS]

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police need help to identify a man who critically injured another man in a shootout at a Family Dollar store.

It happened Thursday, Oct. 20, at around 11 a.m. at the location in the in the 12600 block of Dexter on the city's west side.

According to police, the armed suspect walked in and attempted to rob the place. He fired one shot, striking a  24 year-old male victim.

The victim, a CPL holder, pulled his firearm out and returned fire at the suspect. Police said they're not sure if the suspect was shot, but he dropped the money and fled.

The victim suffered critical injuries.

The suspect is described as a black male, 25-30 years old, 5'7" tall with a medium build, full beard and mustache and a dark complexion. He was wearing a black coat with a hood and blue jeans.

Anyone who knows the suspect — seen in security camera images released to the media — knows of his whereabouts or has any information about this crime is asked to call Detroit Police Department Fatal Squad at 313-596-1040. Citizens can remain anonymous, as always by leaving a tip via the DPD Connect or by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
