Man Accused Of Spray Painting Death Threats Against Detroit Police Arrested Again
DETROIT (WWJ) - The man who was arrested for spray painting an east side Detroit building with the words, "Kill all police" and "Kill James Craig," has been arrested again -- this time on different charges.
About 10 hours after proclaiming his innocence to WWJ Newsradio Wednesday, 49-year-old Stuart Horatio Lewis was arrested again -- this time on felonious assault charges.
Detroit police say the charges stem from an incident where Lewis allegedly pulled a BB gun on a man who was attempting to repossess his vehicle. It happened about a week before Lewis allegedly wrote the threatening graffiti on a building in the 200 block of W. State Fair.
Lewis was first arrested around 9 p.m. Friday in connection with the graffiti after police say they received tips about his guilt. The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, however, refused to sign off on a warrant for a felony charge of making a threat of terrorism and Lewis was released.
Prosecutor's office spokeswoman Maria Miller told WWJ's Jon Hewett that Lewis was apprehended again Monday after "further information received" led them to sign the warrant. He was released after posting bond.
Lewis was arrested again late Wednesday afternoon at his east side home. He likely will be arraigned Thursday.
Lewis is facing more than 20 years in prison if convicted on the terrorism charge. He's also facing charges of malicious destruction of a building and intent to deliver marijuana.
