Fire Totals Site Of Popular Restaurant, Building Formerly Owned By Bob Bashera

GROSSE POINTE (WWJ) - A building in Grosse Pointe a complete loss after fire rips through a popular restaurant and infamous location of convicted murderer Bob Bashara's sex dungeon.

Rockafellers was fully engulfed with flames at 6 a.m. as firefighters battled the five-alarm fire into the morning. The building was formerly owned by Bob Bashara, convicted in the murder of his wife in 2012.

Firefighters battled the blaze near the corner of Mack and Nottingham Road -- the site of Rockefellers Oyster Bar and Grill.

The owner of the restaurant Jailee Dearing says he is in shock but has received a ton of support.

"The community has been good to us, and I talked to the mayor - they have been very supportive, and they're going to help us any way they can - I believe we are going to be able to rebuild in the very near future," said Dearing.

Police say the fire started in a second floor apartment unit while residents were home. No one was injured.

The two-story restaurant and apartment building was once the site of Bob Bashara's sex dungeon. Bashara was convicted of orchestrating the the murder of his wife, Jane Bashara in 2012.
