Man Blamed In Trooper Death Arrested For Driving On Suspended License

TRAVERSE CITY (WWJ) -- He's accused in the dragging death of a Michigan State Police trooper last year and now, an exclusive video has been obtained by WWJ of the Oakland County man pulled over by police and arrested. Raymond Warren Jr. was caught driving on a suspended license, for the second time.

In the video the officer asks Warren if he has a valid license. "Yes," replied Warren quickly.

The officer followed up asking, "it's not suspended or denied or anything?"

After a pause, Warren admitted to his license being suspended. "I'm going to have to be honest with you," he said and explained his predicament.

The body camera footage shows an officer stopping 69-year-old Warren for allegedly failing to use a turn signal several times near Traverse City.

Warren is being blamed for the death of Trooper Chad Wolf, who according to investigators, was on patrol Aug. 28 2015 when Warren's car, which was towing a trailer collided, with his motorcycle. Police say 38-year-old Wolf was snatched from the motorcycle, trapped beneath the trailer and dragged several miles before Warren pulled into a freeway rest area.

As a condition of Warren's bond in the death of Trooper Chad Wolf, he is not allowed to drive. Because of the arrest, a judge last month upped Warren's bond and also reinstated his tether. His attorney said his client simply made a "bad decision" to drive.
