Pontiac Woman Charged In Big Lots Parking Lot 'Road Rage' Attack

PONTIAC (WWJ) - A 44-year-old Pontiac woman is facing felony charges after authorities say she intentionally struck another woman with her car during an alleged road rage incident.

According to Oakland County Sheriff's officials, the dispute began as the two women were driving in the area of State St. and Johnson St. in the city of Pontiac shortly after noon on Thursday.

Both drivers entered the parking lot of the Oakland Point Shopping Center, on the northeast corner of Elizabeth Rd. and Telegraph, in front of the Big Lots store.

Investigators say the driver of a 2008 Jeep Patriot, a 52-year-old Pontiac resident, got out of her vehicle with a baseball bat

That's when the driver of Pontiac Grand Prix — identified as 44-year-old Chane Caprice Thomas of Pontiac — allegedly struck the woman with her car.

Thomas, who authorities say was not injured, fled the scene but was pulled over in Waterford Township and arrested a short time later.

The victim was taken to McLaren Hospital and then transferred to Royal Oak Beaumont hospital where she was listed in critical condition awaiting surgery. Her name has not been released.

Thomas was arraigned in  50th District Court Friday on one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, a 10-year felony; and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon (vehicle), a four-year felony.

She remains lodged in the Oakland County jail.
