No. 14 Western Michigan Takes Perfect Record To Kent State

The Associated Press

No. 14 Western Michigan (9-0, 5-0 Mid-American Conference) at Kent State (3-6, 2-3), 7:30 p.m. ET Tuesday (ESPN2).

Line: Western Michigan by 18 1/2.

Series Record: Western Michigan leads 33-20-1

WHAT'S AT STAKE

After jumping three spots this week in the Top 25 poll, the Broncos are ranked higher than any MAC team since Ball State was No. 12 in 2008. Western Michigan, which has never won 10 games in school history, has its sights set on a BCS bowl bid and must remain unblemished for that to happen. Kent State has lost four games by a combined 15 points.

KEY MATCHUP

WMU wide receiver Corey Davis vs. Kent State's secondary. Davis has 61 receptions and 14 touchdowns. He had 12 receptions for a school-record 272 yards and three TDs last week and will be facing a defense allowing 268 yards passing per game.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Western Michigan: Davis. He's the active leading receiver in the FBS with 4,796 yards and needs 210 yards to pass Nevada's Trevor Insley (5,005) for the career FBS receiving record. Davis is tied for second in the FBS with 14 receiving TDs.

Kent State: Junior quarterback Nick Holley. The team's jack of all trades, Holley played tailback, wide receiver and returned punts before taking over at quarterback following early season injuries to two QBs. It's the first time he's played the position since his senior year in high school. Holley rushed for 144 yards last week. His twin brother, Nate, plays safety and is the Golden Flashes' best defensive player.
