Big Sinkhole Shuts Down Dix Road In Southwest Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - A massive sink hole is causing problems for motorists on Dix Road near Oakwood in Southwest Detroit.

Micheal Frank, whoworks at a trailer and trucks parts store nearby, says the hole is impacting business.

"Very slow for us. A lot of customers calling and complaining that they can't get to us; just pure craziness," Frank told WWJ Newsradio 950. "We actually walked around the corner, gave a customer some parts who couldn't get through."

A spokesperson for the Wayne County Roads Division said the problem has been identified as a City of Detroit water main break and that the city is dealing with it.

Police have shut down that part of Dix Road between Oakwood and Pleasant streets for the time being. It's unclear how long it may take to fix.

No serious injuries or accidents have been reported in connection with the sinkhole.
