Detroit Land Bank Turns Over Records Amid Demolition Probe

DETROIT (AP) - Officials with the Detroit Land Bank Authority have turned over records to federal investigators who are looking into the city's demolition program.

Land Bank spokesman Craig Fahle says authorities were inside the Guardian Building on Wednesday for a "scheduled visit" to obtain records. In a statement, Fahle says the Land Bank has cooperated from the start with investigators and will continue to cooperate.

The Detroit Free Press reports the U.S. attorney's office in Detroit says federal agents were obtaining materials that were voluntarily produced. FBI spokesman Tim Wiley told The Detroit News he "couldn't confirm or deny" an investigation was taking place inside the building on Wednesday.

Detroit's federally funded demolition program to help deal with blighted properties has been under review amid questions about its costs and bidding practices.
