Report: Ian Kinsler Won't Waive No Trade Clause Without An Extension

The Detroit Tigers are trying to cut payroll.
When Tigers' GM Al Avila met with the media at the end of the 2016 campaign he said, "changes are coming."
With changes coming, the first players mentioned as trade possibilities were the ones with the highest salaries and with the most possibility of a good return. Those players are Miguel Cabrera, Justin Verlander, J.D. Martinez and Ian Kinsler. Verlander, Cabrera and Kinsler have no trade clauses in their contract and according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, Kinsler won't waive his unless he gets a contract extension.
He reports that 10 teams, which include the L.A. Dodgers, would require the second baseman's permission to be traded to them.
If the Tigers want to trade second baseman Ian Kinsler to a team on his limited no-trade list, he only will approve the deal if granted a contract extension, according to his agent, Jay Franklin.
It was reported that the Tigers and Dodgers have talked about a trade involving Kinsler. Kinsler's agent is quoted as saying:
"If one of the 10 teams happens to call and wants to talk about it, we're open to talking about it," Franklin said. "(But) they're going to have to extend him for us to waive the no-trade.
Scheduled to make $11 million in 2017 and a $10 million option for '18 any extension for the Gold Glover wouldn't start until he is 36 and common sense notes that players production will start to decrease. Kinsler is coming off his best season since 2011, he hit .288 with 28 homers and knocking in 83 RBI.
