State Trooper To Be Arraigned On 'Super Drunk' Charge After Crashing Into Clinton Township Home

CLINTON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A Michigan State Police trooper will be arraigned next month under the state's "super drunk" law.

The unidentified trooper is accused of being drunk when his Cadillac SUV crashed into a house on Harrington Street and Moravian Drive in Clinton Township around 1:30 a.m. on October 18. Witnesses say he drove away from the scene covered in blood.

Police caught up with the trooper, who was off-duty at the time, a short distance away at Garfield and 16 Mile roads.

The "Super Drunk" offense is for drivers with a blood alcohol level at or above 0.17 percent. The legal limit for driving in Michigan is 0.08 percent.

The trooper is scheduled to be arraigned on December 2.
