'This Isn't Funny': Image Of Ohio State Fans Mocking Flint Water Crisis

DETROIT (CBS DETROIT) - The rivalry between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Michigan Wolverines has never been one short on words or spirited fan frenzy but rarely does it include misogyny and mocking a very real health crisis.

As the Buckeyes hosted the Wolverines this weekend a photo surfaced on Twitter that derided women from UofM and made light of the ongoing water crisis in Flint.

"Michigan Girls: More Diseased Than Flint Water" the sign read and posted from BarstoolOUS account.

Reaction was shift: Former grads stated 'this is disgusting,'

Cherie Lampley replied to the post "this isn't funny. This is disgusting,"
and many called for the site to delete the post, adding "this is not something to joke about."

"In case anyone was curious it took 166 bottles of water to make dinner" wrote one person on Twitter from Flint.

But as of Sunday afternoon the post was still getting online reaction.

APRIL 2014: In an effort to save money, Flint begins drawing its water from the Flint River instead of relying on water from Detroit but neglected to add a corrosion inhibitor to the system. At the time, officials estimated the cost of buying water from Detroit this year at $16 million, and the overall annual cost of switching to the new Karegnondi Water Authority would be $12.5 million.

Residents immediately complain about the smell, taste and appearance of the water. They also raise health concerns, reporting rashes, hair loss and other problems.

Since the summer of 2014, 87 cases have been reported with ten fatalities — and about half the cases involve people drinking Flint water.

Legionnaires' disease is a type of pneumonia caused by bacteria that infect the lungs.
