ST. CLAIR SHORES (WWJ) - Police in St. Clair Shores are looking for a man wanted in the sexual assault and attempted abduction of a Lakeview high school student Monday morning.

The 16-year-old girl was walking to school at Cubberness and Statler — in the area of 10 Mile Rd. and Little Mack — at around 6:45 a.m.. when police say a stranger in a pickup truck stopped and asked for directions.

"She began to give him some information; he jumped out of the truck and forced her in through the driver's side door of the vehicle," Det. Sgt. Bill Reese told WWJ's Charlie Langton and other reporters.

Reese said the man grabbed the girl by the back of her neck before he began forcibly sexually assaulting her — but she was able to fight him off. She the jumped out of the truck and ran home to safety as the man drove away.

The suspect is described as a smaller black male in his late 20s, around 5' 4'' tall and 140 lbs., clean-shaven, possibly with his hair in short dreadlocks or braids. He wearing a silver and green Seahawks winter hat and a black zip-up hoodie jacket. He was driving a clean black or gray Dodge Ram Quad cab pickup with chrome wheels and chrome sidesteps.

Reese said the victim is doing OK.

An alert from Lakeview schools regarding the incident advised parents about disruptions with student drop-off and traffic flow due to police and news vehicles on the scene, and noted that witness interviews were happening around homes near Princeton Elementary as early as 7:05 a.m.

An investigation is ongoing.

Anyone who may have seen the suspect or who has any information about this incident is asked to call St. Clair Shores police at 586-777-6700.
