2 Suspects Arrested In Southfield Bar Shooting

SOUTHFILED (WWJ) - Southfield police say two suspects have been arrested in connection with a recent shooting at a popular bar and grill.

The Detroit men, ages 21 and 24, were taken into custody without incident on Thursday, and are expected to be arraigned on multiple charges Friday afternoon.

The shooting happened around 12:45 a.m. Nov. 19 at Bar 7 on 12 Mile Road just west of Telegraph Road. Three people were injured: a 53-year-old Southfield man, a 28-year-old Detroit man and a 25-year-old Southfield man. None of the injuries are considered life-threatening.

According to police, one of the two gunmen was involved in an altercation with one of the victims prior to the shooting.

"There were two people who fired their guns, they were in the bar together," Lt. Tedd Goff told WWJ's Erin Vee. "There were punches thrown back and forth and then the two men who fired their guns, pulled out their guns and fired several shots. The first suspect fired into the crowd and the other, it looks like, fired his gun up in the air."

After the shooting, the gunmen fled along with the other panicked bar patrons. Both of the getaway vehicles have since been located and impounded by police.

"The Southfield Police Department thanks the other law enforcement agencies involved in this investigation, as well as members of the public who provided information which was critical to the investigation," police said in a statement.

Names of the suspects will be released at the arraignment.
