Michigan's Jabrill Peppers Named A Heisman Trophy Finalist

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) -- Michigan's do-it-all junior Jabrill Peppers has been named a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.

Peppers joins Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson, Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson and Oklahoma wide receiver Dede Westbrook.

The last Michigan player to finish in the top-5 in Heisman voting was running back Mike Hart in 2006. Only Tom Harmon (1940), Desmond Howard (1991) and Charles Woodson (1997) have won the award for the Wolverines.

Peppers was awarded the Defensive Player of the Year, Linebacker of the Year and Return Specialist of the Year awards in the Big Ten this season.

Peppers recorded 43 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and one interception on defense in 2016, while rushing for 181 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries on offense. He also averaged 14.8 yard per punt return.
