Attempted Abduction Of 12-Year-Old Has Police Stepping Up Patrols
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - Southfield police are looking for two men in connection with a reported attempted abduction of a boy walking home from school.
On Tuesday police say a 12-year old boy was walking on Southwood Drive near Sherfield (area of 10 Mile Road and Greenfield Road) at about 4:30 pm when he was approached by two males in a black Dodge Ram pickup. According to the victim, the driver lowered the window and told the boy to get in the truck. When the boy refused - the passenger got out of the truck and grabbed the boy's collar.
He tells police he was able to pull away and run home.
The boy told authorities he seen this vehicle in the neighborhood several times in the last week.
The vehicle is described as a black Dodge Ram 4-door pickup with black rims and a silver Ram logo on the front grille, similar to the bottom vehicle in the attached picture.
The driver is described as a white male in his 40s with short black hair and a mustache. He was wearing a red and black checkered jacket.
The passenger is described as a white male wearing a black or gray jacket and blue jeans with a hole in the knee. The victim says he was was wearing a ski mask which covered his face, so there is no further description of his age, hair color, or facial hair.
Police say there will be additional patrols around the schools and neighborhoods.
