Suspect In Texas Double Homicide Arrested In Lansing

LANSING (WWJ/AP) - A man being sought by authorities in a double homicide in Texas has been arrested in Lansing.

The U.S. Marshals Service says 28-year-old Raymond Alvarado Jr. was arrested by the Lansing Area Fugitive Task Force on Thursday. He's charged with charged with capital murder of multiple persons.

Alvarado had been sought since Sept. 12, when he's accused of fatally shooting two men in San Angelo, Texas. Three other suspects were arrested in San Angelo and charged in the deaths the day after the shootings.

The U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force began assisting the San Angelo Police Department in the investigation in late October. The investigation eventually led authorities to believe Alvarado was in the Lansing area based on a Crime Stoppers tip. The Lansing Area Fugitive Task Force was enlisted to help track Alvarado down.

Task force members conducted surveillance at an address in Lansing on Thursday and after several hours, Alvarado was seen leaving the residence and walking away. Marked units assisted the task force in approaching Alvarado and he was arrested without incident.

Alvarado is being held at the Ingham County Jail and will be transported back to Texas following extradition proceedings. He is expected to appear in court in Ingham County Friday.
