$2,500 Reward For Tips In Ferndale Fatal Hit-And-Run

FERNDALE (WWJ) - Police and Crime Stoppers are reaching out to the public for tips to find a driver who struck and killed a man on a bicycle and didn't stop at the scene.

Police say 49-year-old Michael Proxmire of Madison Heights was riding his mountain bike in Ferndale on Friday, Dec. 9, when he was hit by a vehicle. It happened between 10:30 p.m. and 11:52 p.m, on eastbound 10 Mile Rd. near Huron Ave.

A passerby noticed Proxmire laying in the roadway and called 911. He was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he died.

The driver involved was nowhere to be seen, and authorities do not have a description of the vehicle.

Proxmire was wearing a brown leather coat and green camouflage pants.

A $2,500 cash reward is now being offered for tips leading to an arrest in this case.
