Driver Killed In Two-Car Crash Along Telegraph Road

ASH TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash in rural Monroe County that killed one person.

The crash happened just before 7 a.m. Wednesday along Telegraph Road near Carleton-Rockwood Road in Ash Township.

Police say an initial investigation determined that a Chevy Avalanche was traveling south on Telegraph when the driver disregarded a red traffic light and struck a Chevy Cavalier that travelling through the intersection eastbound on Carleton-Rockwood Road.

The driver of the Cavalier, a 50-year-old Carleton man, was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the Avalanche was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The victim's name has not yet been released.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash or who was any other information is asked to contact police at 734-242-3500.
