DETROIT (WWJ) – A Shelby Township man is dead after the plane he was flying crashed Wednesday outside Indianapolis, Indiana.
Ren Sagaert, 77, had taken off from a grass airstrip in Bartholomew County. He crashed in the town of Hartsville and was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is set scheduled for tomorrow.
A witness says he heard the plane’s engine start, then cut out, followed by a “big bang.”
