Police: Chesterfield Township Teen Shot In The Head

CHESTERFIELD TWP. (WWJ) - A 17-year-old girl was shot in the head in Chesterfield Township, according to police, on Monday afternoon.

At 5:30 p.m., police remained on the scene where the shooting occurred at a home on Briar Towne Blvd. — near 21 Mile Road, between Gratiot Ave. and I-94.

The girl was shot at around 3 p.m., according to reports, and was still breathing when she was taken by EMS to a local hospital.

Police say a man who was in the home with the girl called 911 at the time of the incident and is currently with Chesterfield police.

The man said he saw an older model silver Toyota driven by another man fleeing the area shortly after the shooting. The man driving the Toyota is described as a white male with a brush cut hairstyle and approximately 20-years-old.

Police told the Macomb Daily that a man was taken away in handcuffs was arrested on outstanding warrants, but investigators are still searching for the driver of the Toyota.

"The individual who was inside the house was cooperative," Chesterfield Township police chief Bradley Kersten said.

Details of what led to the shooting are not clear at this time. No other injuries were reported.
